so now I suffer a delayed heartbreak. Also, because I am queen of the overreactionxsensitivity.
Point is, I was rewatching the cartoon show of my childhood (stayed up late nights during holidays to watch as many DVDs full of crappily animated goodness as possible before the Mother would groggily stomp in and shoo me to bed). So the male protagonist (future Tang Taizong) falls in love at first sight with the future Zhangsun Empress because she's beautiful, but she's also scholarly, virtuous, honorable - THE WOMAN OF ALL WOMEN. Which is all well and good until he goes off to war, and she's left being captured by dirty young princes and creeps who all want a piece of dat. Meanwhile, our dear protagonist gets ambushed and trapped on a secluded island with the hawtmama!Turkish girl/assassin/Khan's niece/future wife of future Khan. And of course they fall in love and call each other intimate nicknames and have the time of their young lives on the "island of their dreams." When they get rescued, they go back to the opposing sides of the war...where he runs into the first lovely lady who is taking care of the injured, carrying the wounded from the battlefield to the camp, washing the laundry of the infirmary, cleaning, also known as work not suitable for a lady but apparently the time she spent struggling with the peasants and living day-by-day taught her how much everyone looks forward to halcyon days, the men who attacked her only taught her to become a better person, etc. Anyways, they eventually hook up because the future emperor is instantly moved/falls deeper into love with her - plus, even though she already knows about the Turkish girl, our sweet lady greatly admires the Turk for going through such a tough time with the guy and their feelings for each other are understandable and OHMYGOD HOW UNDERSTANDING CAN ONE PERSON BE.
Anyways, as a little girl, I detested the presence of the fictional Turkish girl because she's not real, adds unneeded distraction to the attention of the protagonist,is blonde is very flirtatious and out there and nothing like the sweet Lady Zhangsun. But rewatching brought up questions with the older!/notmuchmoremature!me who wonders Can you love more than 1 person in one lifetime? Shouldn't I respect the Turkish girl for going what after what she wants? awejhlawi iuhgrnpzdfp awiguthweguaweoghahweogoawheg;ahw??? Isn't it alright to love someone who loves/has loved someone else? AFAUHWEFQ;APOWREGI OAWIEGFHAOWEIAWEAQWEOGWGAWGOAWEGH???????????????????
Roomie thinks that I have suffered a complete mental breakdown. She is probably correct.
Growing older means learning that there really is no omniscient/omnipotent. Sigh, Dumbledore. Also, deus ex machina becomes less acceptable by the day.
WILL SOMEONE PLEASE LET ME KEEP MY DELUSIONAL LITTLE GIRL FANTASIES?
